In Capo d’Orlando Marina the naming ceremony of the sailboat “The Blue Woman” to Sara Campanella

The port becomes a place of memory, community and shared commitment

This morning Capo d’Orlando Marina hosted the naming ceremony of the sailboat “The Blue Woman” to Sara Campanella, a young university student who tragically died due to an act of violence.

The event, organized by the Italian Naval League – Section of Sant’Agata di Militello, took place on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and transformed the port into a place of meditation, participation and reflection.

An intense and heartfelt ceremony

In the presence of institutions, local associations, schools and numerous citizens, the initiative wanted to remember Sara through a symbolic gesture that entrusts her name to the sea, a place of freedom and rebirth.

Particularly touching was the moment in which Sara’s mother, together with her father, took the floor sharing a deep, authentic and emotionally rich speech, which involved and moved all those present.

During the speech, the mother also presented the new association dedicated to her daughter, created with the aim of promoting awareness, prevention and support activities in the area, so that Sara’s memory can become an engine for concrete initiatives aimed at young people and the community.

A gesture that leaves a mark

The ceremony ended with the unveiling of the plaque affixed to the social boat “La Donna Blu”, which from today will bear Sara’s name during the educational and social activities of the Italian Naval League.

The initiative is part of the national campaign “Cima Rossa”, which ideally unites all the sections of the LNI in a shared message of contrast to violence and promotion of the values of respect, inclusion and solidarity.

Capo d’Orlando Marina as a place of community

Hosting such a significant moment – which combines memory, commitment and deep values – represents for Capo d’Orlando Marina an honor and a sign of how much the port can be not only infrastructure and hospitality, but also a space for community, meeting and dialogue.

Sara Campanella’s name will continue to echo between the wind and the waves
